About Pageant of Lights

Pageant of Lights is a free community event organised by Council’s Events team and held in conjunction with our generous sponsors and the goodwill of our supporters.

In the lead-up to Christmas and on the cusp of the school holidays, Pageant of Lights provide a family focus for residents across the region.

Council’s community Christmas tree located in Buss Park as well as the main street trees and their thousands of fairy lights are illuminated at the traditional “switching on of the lights” by the Mayor and a specially selected young helper.

While more than 70 entrants make up an impressive parade cavalcade and all with the opportunity of securing prizes, it is the chance to share community spirit and promote genuine joy that is the motivating factor behind the participation of the parade entrants.

Food and market stalls, entertainment stages and the opportunity to mix as a community are the factors that make the annual Pageant of Lights a standout on Council’s events calendar.
