Festival Terms and Conditions

Taste Bundaberg Festival Jam and Chutney Competition

  • This competition is run by Bundaberg Regional Council (Council).
  • To be eligible for the prize, you must complete the online registration form in full. Entries for the Taste Bundaberg Jam and Chutney Competition can ONLY be made online through the Taste Bundaberg Festival website.
  • By entering this competition, you agree to abide by and be bound by these Terms and conditions. A failure to comply with these Terms and Conditions will render any entry invalid and competitor will be ineligible to claim the prize.
  • The competition is open from 1 May 2023 and will close at 8pm 16 July 2023.
  • The winners will be judged on Friday 4th August 2023, 10am to 12pm, at the Pavilion, Recreation Precinct.
  • Presentation of top 3 prize winners will occur at the Taste Farmers Market held on Saturday 5 August 2023 at the Bundaberg Recreational Precinct.
  • Competitor must be a resident of the Bundaberg Region (proof of address required).
  • Government agencies, Council employees and Councillors are ineligible to win the prize.
  • Prize is not transferrable nor redeemable for cash.
  • Council accepts no responsibility for and competitors agree to indemnify and release Council against any loss or damage howsoever arising (including negligence), to a person or property, arising out of or in connection with the competition including (but not limited to) erroneous late or misdirected entries, errors, delay or malfunction of Council’s website or survey monkey and any implications of winning the prize.
  • Council reserves the right to cancel or terminate the competition if, for any reason, the integrity of the competition or its fairness or security is compromised.
  • Council may vary these Terms and Conditions without notice to competitors by publication of the Website of the amended Terms and Conditions.
  • As a condition for acceptance of entry all competitors agree to the following:
  • All information submitted as part of the competitor’s entry is true and correct.
  • Neither the competitor or its family members will partake in any social, professional, or other interaction with an official or judge before or during the Taste Bundaberg Festival.
  • All work must be the work of the competitor.
  • Only one entry is allowed for each competitor.
  • Should the judges consider an entry does not meet the competition standards, the judges may withhold any or all prizes. The judge’s decision shall be final.
  • The judges shall have the right to sample all entries.
  • Council reserves the right to display only such entries as it deems fit and practical.
  • Council reserves the right to eliminate any entry that ferments or show signs of mould during any period of the competition.
  • Council will exercise all reasonable care with entries submitted but will not be responsible for the loss or damage to the entry whilst in their custody.
  • Should any dispute arise for which no specific rule is laid down, the matter in dispute shall be referred to Council’s Branch Manager Arts, Culture, Tourism Facilities and Events, whose decision shall be final.
  • All entries must be fit for consumption.  
  • All entries must be made with 75% local ingredients (competitors must provide evidence by means of receipt of ingredients). Disqualification will result from any entry submitted that is not made from 75% local ingredients or any other matter that Council deems fit.
  • Entries will not be accepted unless in the correct/provided jars with correct/provided metal lids as follows:
  • All jars are round 250ml jars. Two same size jars of jam are to be submitted for judging. (All jars and metal lids will be supplied by Council in jar packs.)
  • All jars and bottles to be filled 1cm and no less then 2cm from top of jar.
  • No contestant name on jar.
  • The label for jars must state application number (application number and labels will be provided with jar pack)
  • All ingredients listed upon submission to ensure all possible allergens are identified.
  • Each winner (1st , 2nd , 3rd place) will receive a prize card as well as any other listed prizes.
